The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas. They give up their spare time to serve in the Reserves Forces, balancing their ‘day job’ and personal lives with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve.
However, their important role in our Armed Forces often goes unrecognised and as such, an annual Reserves Day was created to highlight and recognise their valuable contribution. In 2019, Reserves Day was celebrated on Wednesday 26 June and in order to raise the profile of Reservists and celebrate their contribution to both the Armed Forces and to businesses, Wood held a number of meet and greet sessions across their offices.
Sarah Grayston, who is a Bombardier in the Royal Artillery Reserves, held a drop-in session at Wood’s 305 Bridgewater Place office at Birchwood, where colleagues had the opportunity to find out more about reservists and try on some military kit for size.
