Rolls Royce Food Bank Donations

Our occupier Rolls Royce have been rallying round donating what they can for Trussell Trust Warrington Foodbank to help support those struggling amidst the Coronavirus outbreak.

“At Rolls-Royce Civil Nuclear Warrington, we actively support a few local charities. One charity we have been supporting for 2 years now is the Trussell Trust Warrington Foodbank.

In ‘normal times’ we have a trolley in the office reception which people make donations to, this is then collected by the food bank. Obviously, with the spread of Covid-19 the majority of our staff are now working from home, as a result we are not getting the usual quantity of food donated.

With people all over the country being made redundant or furlough on 80% pay and the number of universal credit applications up to nearly 1 million in the past 2 weeks, we are as keen as ever to support the foodbank. Instead of asking employees to donate food we gave our employees the option to make a cash donation and then one member of the office would go out to buy the supplies the foodbank need and deliver them; being conscious of Covid-19 we wanted to keep the number of people who would being going to the shops to a minimum.

In the space of 48 hours we raised a massive £350!!

The needs of the foodbank change all the time; for example, the Warrington Foodbank has never ran out of baked beans before last week, but with people panic buying the foodbank found themselves in dire need of baked beans. We have been doing our best to source what the foodbank needs and so far have donated more than 200 tins of baked beans, 50kg of sugar, 50 bottles of shampoo, 100 tins of spaghetti, litres and litres of washing up liquid, and numerous cartons of juice. We have filled 5 trolleys and still have about 1/3rd of the money left to spend. Below are some pictures of one of the three donations we have made in the past week.
