Pirates of the Caribbean is Back!

I’m sure you’re all aware that Birchwood Park was a favourite recreational haunt for stressed out pirates who gained access through Treacherous Tom Trenchard’s tunnel which links to the Mersey and thus the sea and also the most notorious visitor, Hatchet Jack Dangles, who did unspeakable things with an axe and had a penchant for keel hauling his victims.

Cap’n Jack Sparrow’s links to Warrington have been well documented in this column as has some his exploits before he returned to Warrington to retire and his memoirs entitled “A sparrow in the crow’s nest” details many more. Although Trenchard’s tunnel has been sealed up for many years (legend has it that a secret passage still exists) rumour has it that on summer evenings it is still used by those of ill repute to access Birchwood. So mind and lock your doors.
