Pinchpoint project update

Please see the below update on the pinchpoint project from Warrington Borough Council:

Oakwood Gate
The traffic lights at Oakwood Gate were activated this morning and are now operating with local timings. There will be a period of adjustment over the next few days to take account of traffic conditions. The BT connection is still outstanding so that we are unable to connect to the traffic control room for “smart” management of the traffic lights but we are confident that the preliminary timings should be able to cope with the ongoing traffic conditions. All traffic management have been removed from this junction and the speed restriction on Birchwood Way has also been removed.

Faraday Street bus gate
Work on the bus gate is progressing. The road box is being excavated and the new link will start to take shape over the next few weeks.

Moss Gate
The complex and intrusive construction process has caused some significant congestion issues on Birchwood Way, Daten Avenue and, at times, on the M62. We are very sorry for this but it has been extremely difficult to manage the high volumes of traffic in a relatively confined area and in keeping with the contractors Zero Harm objectives. However the good progress made by the contractor thanks to the favourable weather means that we are able to amend the traffic management in favour of the road user. From today Birchwood Way in-bound will be free flowing. There will continue to be traffic control on the Birchwood Way outward bound/Daten Avenue junction. Moss Gate northbound will continue to be restricted. Please note that overnight closures have been scheduled between 9th and 12th February, and again between 15th and 19th February, between 8pm and 6am. These are required for carriageway resurfacing.

Ongoing updates will be provided on www.warrington.gov.uk/roadworks.

A further update will be provided in 3 weeks time.
