Grains for Brains: Build your own salad boxes - Tuesday 15th May

Grains are the seeds of cereal such as wheat, rye, rice or barley and have been a staple food for humans for thousands of years. Any food made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley or another cereal grain is a grain product. Bread, pasta, oatmeal, breakfast cereals and tortillas are examples of grain products.

Grains are divided up into two subgroups, Whole Grains and Refined Grains.

It is widely recognised that whole grains and foods made with whole grains can make an important contribution to our health and wellbeing. Whole grains provide benefits relating to the many individual nutrients and bioactive compounds you need.

The team at Birchwood Park have created a salad bar with a selection of superfood salads containing grains that will be available in The Garden Restaurant on Tuesday 15th May for you to enjoy.
