Chaplain’s Corner - Mindful Moments with the chaplains

Once a month chaplains will be offering mindful activities at the Engine Rooms from 12.30pm – 1.30pm, next session Monday 22nd November.

Please feel free to join us for as long or as little as you wish, we’ll have a variety of activities available to help you to take a little ‘me’ time. It’s surprising how relaxing a little crafting can be, giving your mind time to focus on something other than day to day work or life issues.

We are also trying hard to be mindful of social distancing & the different emotions that people are experiencing in company as we all continue to navigate our way through covid. This means that our chaplains will have plenty of hand sanitiser available for you to use to help you feel more comfortable to join in the activities on offer.

Have you tried your hand at card making or mindful colouring yet? What about crochet? Did you know that you can crochet a coaster to take home with you in about twenty minutes.

How good does it feel when you receive a hand created card that someone has put lots of thought into? Why not try your hand at creating one for someone you care about? You are very welcome to take cards, pictures or coasters that you work on home with you if you are happy with them. In the mean-time why not try using this image to help create a few moments of peaceful contemplation in your day.

Simply let your gaze fall on the image and let your mind still as you focus on some aspect of it. Let go of any thoughts that try to interrupt your gaze, acknowledge them and then let them go. These few moments are yours, an oasis of calm in a busy day where your mind has a chance to still and reset. Let the stillness and the feeling of peace wash over you as you continue to focus on the image, breathe in deeply, hold for a couple of seconds and then exhale slowly – and – repeat – several times to deepen that peaceful feeling. Hope to see you on the 22nd. Please do say hi even if you don’t want to join us for crafts. If you don’t manage to catch up with one of us on the day, as always you can contact us via email on info@mitechaplaincy.com where you can request a call-back, or you are very welcome to call me directly on my mobile: 07526 378529 either to chat or to arrange a time to meet with one of the chaplains.
