Chaplain’s Corner

May your Christmas be filled with peace and joy however you are spending it.

Christmas is traditionally a time for family and friends to meet up and spend some quality time together. A time when just about everything around us seems to be geared towards warmth, love and laughter from TV programmes to advertising.

It can be a time to feel blessed but it can also be a time when loneliness and feelings of isolation can cut like a knife as we wonder why we may be out in the cold or not able to enjoy this season for whatever reason.

This year is more surreal than most. In spite of the temporary relaxing of Covid rules and the promise that the vaccine holds for many, I know that many people are still concerned about meeting loved ones and feeling in a quandary about how to spend the Christmas holiday this year.

My prayer for you is that whatever you decide, your holiday will be filled with peace, comfort and joy and that you and your family and friends will be safe and well; able to look back on this time eventually as a season of growth; whether that is learning more about your inner strength in coping with the upheaval that Covid has caused; learning a new skill through having time to pick up a hobby that’s been on your heart for a while; having some quality time to spend with family or feeling part of the community spirit that has grown up in many areas as people pull together to support those who are vulnerable.

Be kind to yourself this Christmas time. I wish you peace, joy and health. Please remember if you’d like to talk to a chaplain about anything, you are very welcome to call or text me directly on my mobile: 07526 378529.
