“If it doesn’t challenge you, it can’t change you”

Now there’s a thought for the day from an anonymous online source via quotes.com!

How much challenge are we experiencing at the moment? How is life for you in these strangely surreal times? Are you feeling challenged and being pushed into change or are you fortunate enough to be sailing through without being too deeply affected?

Do you feel conflicted about any of your experiences of the current situation? I don’t know about you but I’ve certainly felt guilty at times that Covid and the lockdown hasn’t really had a massive impact on me as yet. I am so grateful for being one of the more fortunate people in this situation. Yet in spite of that it has still made me change my way of life to some extent.

What sort of changes have you had to make in the past six months or so? Are you coping well or are you frustrated by the adjustment required? The quote for today is working to put a positive spin on some of the negative emotions that challenge and change can leave us with as a humans. Many of us dislike stepping out of our comfort zone and Covid has moved the goal posts for many when it comes to feeling safe and cocooned in our own little bubble. No more popping to the shop for a pint of milk and stopping to browse because something unexpectedly caught your eye. With social distancing and remembering our masks, following directional arrows etc, it can feel like a major accomplishment nowadays to get the weekly shop done.

I think that’s what caught my eye about this particular quote, when life feels a bit overwhelming and surreal, it’s good to remind ourselves that the things that challenge us most can also be the things that help us to change and grow, build confidence rather than destroy it and enable us to recognise our inner strength as we deal with situations that we’ve not come across before.

I’m always happy to swap thoughts on this while wandering around the duck pond and surrounding areas on dry Thursday lunchtimes between 12md and 2pm.

In the meantime, on the rainy Thursdays, or if you don’t manage to catch up with me outside, as always you can contact us via email on info@mitechaplaincy.com where you can request a call-back, or you are very welcome to call me directly on my mobile: 07526 378529 either to chat or to arrange a time to meet.
