RedR Graduate Charity Challenge 2016, Chadwick Charity Challengers

Atkins graduate team group together to raise money for RedR.

RedR is an international humanitarian organisation which supports aid organisations and other humanitarian actors across the world by developing skills and providing expertise. They act to ensure that disaster-prone communities are resilient by giving them practical life-saving skills, advice and support, which help them prepare for, respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters. Previous programmes include projects in Sub-Saharan Africa for the Ebola crisis, in the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan, in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and supporting humanitarian efforts throughout the Middle East resulting from the effects of the Syria civil war.

As a corporate partner, Atkins, shows its support through annual donations and the Graduate Charity Challenge, were small teams are setup throughout the UK with the objective of raising awareness of RedR and charitable donations towards the continuation of RedR and their work globally, as well as graduate team building, development of organisation skills and serves as an introduction to Atkins corporate workings.

We are the RedR Charity Challenge 2016 Team 32, the Chadwick Charity Challengers, base out of the Atkins office in Chadwick House and are made up of six graduates from various backgrounds; Phil Pasco from Environmental Science, Morgan Norey from Mechanical Engineering, Sarah Insall a Faithful and Gould Business Surveyor, Adam Towne and Hamid Kawser from Nuclear Safety and Leonard Nyatigi from Electrical Engineering. Our goal is to inform people of the work that RedR do as well as raise funds so they can carry on pursuing their goal of a world in which sufficient competent and committed personnel are available and responding to humanitarian needs.
Along with several smaller in-office events, we have planned two larger events for sponsorship; a run around Birchwood Park and 55 mile bike ride along the Trans-Pennine Trail.

Firstly, the run, occurring on Friday the 28th of October is around pond of Birchwood Park for a distance of 4900 metres, representing the 4900+ aid workers in 35 countries trained by RedR. We are inviting other teams and individuals to join in with our event and will have a pop-up stand in The Centre for people interested in RedR to talk with our charity team about the event, the charity and its works. So come along, run as many laps as you can, have fun with colleagues and most importantly, help us raise awareness for this great cause.

Secondly, the bike ride, occurring on Sunday the 6th of November will start at Liverpool FCs Anfield stadium, cover the 35 miles of the Trans Pennine Trail to Manchester Uniteds Old Trafford and them the 20 miles to our Chadwick House office in Birchwood Park.
