Did you know that Monday 16 October 2017, is European Restart a Heart Day?
Why don’t you learn CPR? One day you could save a life!
Restart a Heart Day is a designated day of action across Europe with the aim to teach vital lifesaving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills to as many people as possible.
Last year Restart a Heart Day saw an incredible 150,000 young people learn lifesaving skills like CPR in a single day.
Local charity Hand on Heart are joining in this amazing event and giving companies and individuals within Birchwood Park the opportunity to join in too. During this special day, Hand on Heart will be giving Birchwood Park employees the chance to learn CPR or refresh skills.
There’s no fee – it’s completely free to take part.
Simply pop into the Void Suite on the first floor of South Tower in Chadwick House between the hours of 10.30am and 4.00pm to have a free taster session in basic life support skills including CPR.
Hand on Heart’s mission is to keep children safe and prevent the deaths of 12 young people who die of sudden cardiac arrest each week in the UK.
FACTS
- When someone has a cardiac arrest, every minute without defibrillation reduces their chances of survival by 10%
- If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within the first 3 to 5 minutes, survival chances increase from 6% to over 74%
- Without immediate treatment, 90-95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims will die
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the most extreme case of an emergency, as the patient loses consciousness at once and stops breathing immediately
Don’t miss this free opportunity to learn new CPR skills or refresh existing ones on Monday 16th October.
Pop in anytime from 10.30 to 4.00pm on Restart Your Heart Day Monday 16th October where Sue, Emma or Lesley will happy to deliver a mini taster session.
