Chaplain’s Corner - Not Alone

Chaplaincy is about creating a safe space for people to explore their own needs and issues. We are good listeners, independent and non-judgmental. Chaplains are there for everyone regardless of whether or not you have a faith or belief system that you follow. We are happy to discuss any aspect of your life that you wish to share or explore in the safe space that we create together. We have no expectations of you and no agenda to follow. We are simply guided by you.

As a society we’re often caught up in the busyness of life, the next task that needs doing, managing the nitty gritty of daily life but forgetting that we have needs too. This can leave us feeling alone or lonely even when we are surrounded by people, so Chaplains are there to help remind people that they don’t have to feel alone, and that it is important to find ways of caring for themselves. We aim to be available if talking would help to explore ways of fostering a sense of inner peace and calm.

Sometimes learning to take short times out of your day to focus on breathing can help to achieve this, lessening anxiety and stress, helping to rid yourself of frustrations that may have been caused by unexpectedly difficult interactions with other people. Perhaps even using short meditations that you can be done anywhere to help you prepare for anticipated difficult interactions or meetings. I hope that you had a chance to listen to some of the short meditations that we shared during well-being week and would love to hear any feedback that you have whether you found them useful or not. All feedback helps us to explore different ways of reaching out to people and building more supportive relationships.

I aim to wander around the duck pond and surrounding areas on Thursday lunchtimes between 12md and 2pm (on the days when the weather is dry enough for people to want to be outdoors for a while at lunchtime).

In the meantime, on the rainy Thursdays, or if you don’t manage to catch up with me outside, you are very welcome to call me directly on my mobile: 07526 378529 either to chat or to arrange a time to meet, or if you prefer you can contact us via email on info@mitechaplaincy.com where you can also request a call-back.
