Cavendish Nuclear secures highly commended in the construction engineering sector

Cavendish Nuclear has achieved the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) ‘Highly Commended in the Construction Engineering Sector Award’ in recognition of the company’s very high level of health and safety performance, well developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss. This builds on last year’s President’s Award and represents 11 consecutive Gold Awards.

In addition, the company has also achieved the RoSPA Gold Medal Fleet Safety Award (8 consecutive Golds), which recognises an effective, cohesive corporate road risk management programme following RoSPA’s Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORRTM) principles to manage our greatest risk – driving.

Paul Unsworth, Cavendish Nuclear’s Safety Health Environmental Quality and Radiation Protection Director, said, “I’m thrilled that our people have been recognised through the achievement of the Highly Commended award and another Fleet Award. The last year has presented unprecedented challenges and I am extremely proud of everyone for their continued vigilance and unwavering focus on safety. We pride ourselves on being ‘People Who Do The Right Thing’ and these awards reflect everyone’s continued commitment to going Home Safe Every Day”.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said, “The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, but it receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide.

“RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants, and with this award we recognise the best of the best, those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace. Employees, wherever they may be should be able to go to work safe in the knowledge that they will return home unharmed and healthy at the end of every day.”
